Platform overview
- What is the SessionTalk softphone?
- The SessionTalk softphone is a SIP client your users install on Windows, macOS, iOS, or Android. It lets them place and receive calls, send messages, manage contacts, and connect to any compatible PBX or hosted phone system.
- What is the SessionCloud Portal?
- SessionCloud is the web-based admin portal at cloud.sessiontalk.co.uk. You use it to configure your softphone projects, set up branding, manage app metadata, configure push provisioning, and submit builds to the iOS App Store and Google Play.
- What is the Push Server?
- The Push Server is a service that converts incoming SIP
INVITEmessages into native push notifications on iOS and Android. Without it, mobile softphones can't reliably receive calls when the app is closed or in the background. - What's the difference between a Generic and a Whitelabel project?
- Generic projects use the standard SessionTalk branding and are quick to deploy. Whitelabel projects use your own branding, icons, and app name, and are published to the app stores under your company.
- Do I need a PBX to use SessionTalk?
- Yes — SessionTalk is a SIP client, so it connects to an existing PBX or hosted phone system (such as 3CX, FreePBX, Asterisk, or any standard SIP provider). It doesn't include its own PBX.
